Our origin + story

France is very rich in food culture. Each region has its own unique specialties.

The phrase Kalon Digor means bon appétit in the French region of Brittany. This part of France is well known for its crêpes, apple cider, seafood and amazing cakes. It is also home to the well-loved Kouign Amann. At Kalon Digor we'd love to share these authentic Breton foods and some of the most famous desserts revisited.

Alors, Kalon Digor! ~ Bon appétit! ~ Enjoy your meal!

I am passionate about "terroir" food. The food my grand parents ate. It was all about simplicity, quality natural ingredients, time and know-how. This is what inspires me to create pastries and desserts that Kalon Digor customers can share with their family and friends.

Our journey

2017

Our journey started at the French Festival in 2017. We launched our Kouign Amann and sold over 1200 of them over two days. In fact we sold out within hours each day. The overall customer feedback was overwhelming. Kalon Digor was born.

2018

We started to sell at La Cigale market and Farro Fresh.

Kalon Digor was selected as a finalist of the Inspire+ New Zealand Artisan Awards 2018 in the fresh category. The competition had over 350 entries across all categories.
